Today’s memory is a continuation from number 20. We are returning today to the American Pavilion for two more sets of American Vybe for my friend Brian of the Mousin’ It Up Podcast. He wrote me a while ago asking if I had any streetmosphere audio. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything that I would consider streetmosphere, so instead we’re visiting the now extinct group, American Vybe.
We’ll start off with a Christmas set again from 2001. We begin with a signature song Seasons of Love from Rent, then Santa Baby (where my Dad got pulled up), on to Minnie the Moocher, and finishing with Go Tell it On the Mountain which is just AWESOME.
The second set was recorded in September of 2002. Like last time they open with Seasons of Love, which came out great. You can actually hear the group as they make their way into the circle cause I’m actually sitting right there already (I’m the one they point to saying “sit next to this guy”). They follow this with I’m Ain’t Got Nobody. Flip, Flop, Fly is the third song, again showcasing their great swing sound. And then they finish with the great Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog.
